Overview

Registered in 1987 by Walden West, this giant blue-green hosta is a hybrid of *H. 'Elegans'*. It is distinguished by its exceptionally large, heavily ruffled leaves with blue-green coloration and prominent veining, forming a substantial mound.

In the Garden

'Abiqua Parasol' reaches a mature spread of 50 inches (127 cm) and a height of 26 inches (66 cm), making it suitable as a bold specimen or background plant in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage holds color well. Companion plants include ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast with its broad leaves.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While generally low-maintenance, slug and deer damage may occur in some gardens.
