Overview

Registered in 1988 by Walden West, this miniature hosta forms a compact mound 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter. Its leaves are variegated, with emerald green margins surrounding a lighter center, each leaf measuring 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) long and 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) wide with three pairs of veins. The scape reaches 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) in height.

In the Garden

Suitable for partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, this miniature cultivar is well suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. Its small size makes it an excellent choice for container cultivation, where its compact habit and variegated foliage can be appreciated at close range. Pair with other small shade perennials such as miniature ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, this cultivar may be subject to slug and deer damage; monitoring and appropriate control measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
