Registered in 1987 by Walden West, this large hosta cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'White Vision'. It is visually distinctive for its large, heavily textured green leaves with wide, irregular gold margins, forming a substantial mound.

Reaching a mature size of 44 inches (112 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43 cm) in height, 'Abiqua Gold Shield' is best suited to partial to full shade. Its large, bold foliage makes it an effective specimen or groundcover in woodland gardens, where it pairs well with ferns and other shade-tolerant perennials.
