Overview
Registered in 1999 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Abiqua Delight' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with creamy white margins. The leaf blades are 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) wide, with seven to eight vein pairs, a rounded base, and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.
In the Garden
'Abiqua Delight' forms a compact mound 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small stature makes it suitable for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer; slug control may be necessary in damp conditions, and deer browsing is possible in areas where deer are present.
