Overview
Registered in 1999, 'Abiqua Aries' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar bred from *H.* 'Aspen Gold' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Golden Chimes' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with greenish yellow, slightly rippled margins and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright, slow-growing clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or repellents.
