Overview

Registered in 1990 by P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Abby' is a small sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Drop'. Its leaves are dark green with yellow to chartreuse margins, a color combination that distinguishes it from its parent.

In the Garden

'Habby' reaches a mature diameter of 16.5 inches (41.9 cm) and a height of 6.5 inches (16.5 cm), making it suitable for the front of a border, rock gardens, or as a groundcover in partial to full shade. Its small size and compact habit also suit container cultivation. Companion plants that share similar light and moisture requirements include ferns, *Heuchera*, and small *Carex* species.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Abby' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed.
